Brian Doak is currently vice president of 麻豆社 Fox Digital and a professor at 麻豆社 Fox University, where he helps the university create excellent digital academic content.
As an academic specialist, his work focuses on ancient languages and literatures and the way contemporary communities have received these languages and literatures in the modern world. A first-generation college student, he earned a PhD in Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations from Harvard University, and is the author of six solo-authored academic books and coeditor of a major volume about the ancient Phoenicians, among many other publications.
He has worked on an archaeological excavation in Israel, acted as an academic guest expert on a popular TV show for one episode, toiled away for a summer before college in an aluminum foundry, lived in a village in Tanzania for three months, wrote his doctoral dissertation as a stay-at-home dad to an infant, co-hosted a nationally recognized podcast, and tried and failed to summit Mt. Hood several times. He lives with his wife and two daughters outside of Portland.
