How to Find the Right Major
Everyone chooses their college major in different ways. For some, it’s a blind leap of faith. Others weigh all their interests and skill sets before settling on the most viable option. And yet still, some choose to wait, remaining undeclared until the perfect choice presents itself.
Whatever category you fall in, don’t worry! There’s no right or wrong way of doing it. College is an adventure, and finding the ideal major for you is just part of the journey.
I'm Undeclared
There can be a quiet (or loud) anxiety about walking onto campus undeclared. It might feel like packing vacation clothes when you don’t know where you’re going. But here’s the truth: being undeclared is absolutely OK! In fact, it means you have unlimited options. And there are plenty of ways to find your niche. Join clubs and organizations. Think of what gives you joy and fulfillment. If you love connecting with people, maybe you should major in communication. If you tinker with old cars in your spare time, perhaps you should consider engineering.
I've Chosen My Major
Even if you’ve already chosen your major, it’s a great idea to keep rounding out your skill set. You never know when a random skill you learned in college will one day become useful. You’ll meet a diverse group of people, be exposed to new perspectives, and form connections that can last a lifetime in both your personal and professional life. Who knows – you just might find your true passion where you least expected it.
