The Doctor of Physical Therapy program welcomed Pablo Burgos as an associate professor of physical therapy in 2024. He arrived with 18 years of experience in the profession, including 13 years as a professor in the discipline.
Most recently, he worked in 2023 as a senior research associate in the Balance Disorders Laboratory at Oregon Health & Science University, where he specialized in studying gait automaticity in Parkinson’s disease patients. In addition, from 2016 to 2024, he worked as an assistant professor of neurological rehabilitation in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Chile in Santiago, Chile, after serving concurrently as an assistant professor of neuroscience in the Department of Neuroscience (2017-23) at the same institution.
His areas of expertise include motor learning and motor control, human neuroscience, and neurorehabilitation. Burgos holds three degrees from the University of Chile: a PhD in biomedical sciences (2015), a degree in physical therapy (2006) and a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology (2005).
He lives in Portland with his wife Karen Mardones and sons Cristobal and Agustín. The family attends St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Portland. Pablo enjoys playing classical and electric guitar, biking, and playing soccer.
